Have you ever thought about or prayed about the position you are in, knowing you love it but still feel a tug that there is more you are seeking? Listen to my friend Shelly Gaddis explain what she did with her business, Elegant Mommy, the tug on her heart, and how she made some tough changes that altered her life in a positive way!
Wife and mom, Shelly Gaddis, owned Elegant Mommy in Sioux Falls for 11 years before she felt God preparing and leading her away from being a retail store owner to her true passion: teaching!
Her initial plan was to shut the doors to her business and truly felt this was what God wanted her to do. But after multiple people called and offered to purchase the business, Shelly sought God through prayer and felt He softened her heart toward the idea that the store was never about HER, but about the community that surrounded it. She set up some meetings with interested buyers and started the process of selling the business and its inventory. She was only willing to sell to someone willing to continue the supportive community, rather than just purchase a profitable business.
Spend time in God’s word. (Shelly uses and recommends the First Five app.)
Say NO to fear and guilt.
Ask yourself “What is the worst that can happen?”
Give it to God.
Let go of perfection.
