I want to be seen as a leader rather than a boss because leaders are responsible for creating the culture or environment for their business and team members rather than just telling people what to do. In this episode, I’m going to talk about the characteristics of a good leader and what you can do to develop your leadership skills and effectively lead your team to success!
Things you can do for your team:
“Sprinkles” week (given every 6 to 8 weeks)
Birthday gift ($5 Starbucks gift card)
Know their Love Language
Monthly Newsletter (to keep them in the know)
Ask for feedback (to help you improve)
Clifton Strengths Finder or DiSC Assessment (to know their skill set)
Things you can do as a leader:
Listen, read, watch as much on leadership as you can (podcasts, books, webinars).
Attend retreats/workshops/seminars (alone or with your team).
Hire a coach (life, financial, growth, etc.).
Know your own strengths!
Don’t micromanage your staff but give direction and check in with them.
Keep your ego in check but have confidence!
Track sales/systems/projects to help with growth.
Communicate priorities, boundaries, and anxieties to your team.
Being a leader is a LOT of responsibility. It’s never easy, you always have to stay on top of your game and if things fail, you have to take full responsibility, learn from the mistake, and then grow!
